Venturedyne, Ltd. (Pewaukee, WI), holding company for Thermotron Industries (Holland, MI), recently acquired Lakewood Fab Tech, also in Holland, Michigan. Thermotron is North America’s premier manufacturer of high-performance environmental test chambers and vibration test systems, widely used to simulate harsh environments to improve product quality and reliability. Since all equipment is designed and manufactured at company headquarters in Holland, Michigan, Venturedyne has been seeking ways to increase Thermotron’s capacity. Lakewood Fab Tech provides the right means, at the right time, in the right location.

Lakewood Fab Tech has worked with Thermotron before, providing sheet metal fabrication and welding services. Recently, however, they have taken on a more significant role by aiding in the manufacturing of sheet metal for a significant number of environmental test chambers. “Thermotron quickly became a primary customer for Lakewood and was a good fit, especially given our previous experience working with stainless steel,” said Mike Miedema , former owner of Lakewood Fab Tech, now transition leader between Thermotron Industries and Lakewood Fab Tech.

Because of the current needs and future goals at Thermotron, the ideal location directly across the street from the Brooks Avenue plant, and the excellent work coming from Lakewood Fab Tech, the idea of purchasing it seemed to come to Venturedyne naturally. “The additional capacity Lakewood Fab Tech provides will help Thermotron reach a significant number of growth goals in the coming months and years. As we strive to improve customer satisfaction and increase production capacity, this combining of resources will propel us forward toward meeting those objectives. We’re excited about the opportunities this acquisition presents,” states Clint Peterson, president of Thermotron Industries.

Up to this point, Lakewood Fab Tech has specialized in the manufacturing of machines, subassemblies, and parts for food processing, material handling, and automated assembly. They have significant skills and experience in laser cutting, metal forming, deburring and finishing, CNC machining, welding and passivation, assembly of stainless steel, and powder coating. “It seems we are well positioned to integrate our full capabilities with the Thermotron product line. Additionally, I believe it will allow our team members to connect with a product versus the build-to-print work that had been our focus,” commented Mr. Miedema. These proficiencies will blend nicely with the needs at Thermotron.

Venturedyne, Ltd., a holding company for eight manufacturing, sales, and service companies, is headquartered in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Other similar Venturedyne companies include Climet Instruments, Dings Magnetic Separator Company, Scientific Dust Collectors, and Advanced Detection System Company.
